I arrived at my sit spot at around 6:30pm (so at dusk). I usually make my observation during the morning since things are a lot quieter on campus. I did end up hearing some noise from cars passing by and the sound of a leaf blower going off. By 7pm most of the natural sunlight was gone so I had to have my phone’s flashlight on, which is something I did not have to do in the morning. I had never been at my sit pot at this time of day because of the number of tiny bugs that come out around this time.

A view of my sit spot

the leaves that I have been observing

The weather at this time of the day was pretty decent since the temperature was in the high 70s. The sky looked pink and it had a gradient effect where the color purple and orange were involved. I saw a couple squirrels and a bird. One squirrel was jumping in and out of a bush that was across from me. The one bird I saw at this time was on the tree that I sat under. It just sat on one of its lower branches for a couple minutes and then flew away. My experience at my sit spot during this time of day was not too different from when I came in the mornings, except now I was distracted by the various tiny bugs flying around me and in front of my face. I saw the sunset instead of the usual sunrise that I witnessed at this spot. I would probably not go at this time again, despite the nice view of the sunset, because the bugs greatly distracted me from everything.

Tree branches that I observed with less leaves

Regarding the 3 things I have been observing, there does seem to be some noticeable changes among all 3. The tree’s branches are becoming very bare as the amount of leaves on the floor increases. The canopy view from below the tree is beginning to show most of the sky. As for the leaves on the floor, most are yellow or a dull brown color. They are all very dry and as soon as you step on them they crumble. They have taken up most of the ground at my sit spot. The yellow flowers I was observing are no longer yellow, they are now brown. Many of the flowers are drooping and their stems seem to be caving in. I don’t know if this means that they are dying or maybe haven’t been getting enough sun.
