After trying to figure out if parks nearby were open and repeatedly getting disappointed, I chose a spot on my garden as my sit spot. Even though it is not the best option out there, it is the most convenient option I had especially during this unprecedented situation. I have chosen to sit 15 meters away from my house as this seemed like the best option. However, to my surprise, there was still a lot to observe in this small garden of mine.

On the left-hand side of my sit spot, there was a huge bush of bamboo lining the entire wall. Behind me was a bare brick wall with plants hung on it. The bottom of the bamboo bushes was lined by bricks and stones. In front were two wheelbarrows. The wheelbarrows must have been left there for so long that it is completely covered with rust. One of the barrows was filled with dry bamboo leaves – I wonder how long those wheelbarrows have not been moved from that position. In front of the bamboo, bushes leaned my very old red bicycle which also must have been there for a long time as the seats look completely worn out. In front of me, I saw a multitude of plants and a big avocado tree which is full of avocados almost ready to be picked and eaten. The grass and mud underneath were wet due to the light drizzle that occurred a few hours ago.

During my time in the sit spot, I experienced a lot more activity than I had expected. I was accompanied by chirping sparrows behind me, to the east, throughout. I noticed how my garden looked so wild and beautiful because of the abundance of greenery. The ground is covered by a lush, healthy, and thick layer of grass which is vibrant green in color. At one point, there was a group of crows making loud noises circulating above me. They left pretty fast which left me wondering about the reason for their upheaval.

While I was sitting, trying to observe things happening around me, I saw a family of cats. There were two baby cats and one big cat, probably their mother. The baby cats kept meowing at me, and I figured that they were hungry. So, I grabbed a packet of biscuits from my bag and fed it to the cats. I watched them play around with the biscuit for a while before they finished it all up. Watching this stimulated my hunger, so I started munching on my own packet of chips. Another sight that really got me engulfed was the sight of earthworms coming out of the soil from one spot and going back inside through another hole. I had never before noticed earthworms with such distinct rings on their bodies. It was kind of mesmerizing for me.

My first-time spending time in my sit spot felt very refreshing. It felt like I really needed this time away from my devices in order to really immerse myself in the beauty of nature. I realized how important it is to disconnect from the world from time to time in order to stay sane. I really enjoyed being fully involved in my thoughts without any side distractions. Giving time to myself and my thoughts felt like a calm wave through my brain. Also, I was really intrigued by how I was noticing things that I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise in my own garden.

The first object I decided to follow was the rocks on the left side ledge. They were covered in moss and I want to see changes in the appearance of these rocks as the weather changes. The second object is a yellow-flowered plant situated right behind me. Right now, it bears two healthy yellow flowers and two wilted yellow flowers. I am interested in observing changes in this plant as the environment around it changes. My third object is bamboo bushes. These bushes are the reason why my garden looks like a wild mess. There were dry bamboo leaves on the ground, but the bush was still really green and healthy. I want to observe changes in these leaves as winter comes by.
