I walked down to my sit spot in the dark, using my phone light to make sure I didn’t fall down the stairs that lead to my sit spot in the garden. It was 7:03 in the morning when I got down to my sit spot, early enough to watch the first break of dawn. I had never been at my spot before this early, usually I go after lunch when it is warm and sunny so I can watch the water. This time however, I was motivated by the challenge to see my spot at a different time of day and I decided that I wanted to watch the sunrise. It was beautiful. Even though it was freezing and overcast I could still see the sun peeking through the clouds as it rose. The thing that interested me was the fog, I could not get a good picture but it hung over the ground and in the air in a way that made the garden seem beautiful and mysterious.
I liked the chance to see my sit spot from a different point of view, since there were so many differences from the time that I usually watch it. For one thing there were so many cricket songs. It was like a soft symphony to watch the sunrise to and I found it very pleasant. Since I usually watch my spot during the day when they are not as active I really liked being able to listen to them. However, I was sad that all of the crayfish that I usually see were hiding. I found this odd since they are most active at night but then I remembered that they do not like when it is cold, so they were most likely burrowing

Not many other creatures
were out at this time of the morning, but I did hear some squirrels playing around in the trees nearby and I saw a chubby bird land in the willow tree. The force of this bird landing was enough to cause the tree to rain down leaves, some of which got caught in my hair.
Sit Spot
The weather was cold and overcast, it ended up warming up as the day went on but the morning was particularly brutal since I was not prepared for it. I think it is mostly because of this cold and the fact that it is only going to get colder that I probably would not go again at this time unless we had one more really warm morning. I enjoyed watching the sunrise but I feel like I was shivering too much to actually enjoy it properly. In addition my sit spot is covered in leaves from surrounding trees and the water has started to get really cold. Because of the leaves the water was hard to see and I thought that all of the leaves in the water were rather ugly, and because of the cold not as many creatures were out.
My sit spot
objects have changed quite a bit since I last saw them. For one thing the algae patch has gotten bigger. It has begun taking over many of t
he small rocks along the bottom and top of the stream. The rock that I watch has changed too. It has grown a few more plants and the colors have deepened to a dark green. The one that changed the most though is the willow tree. It has been losing so many of its leaves. It still has some but the water is
littered with leaves from this tree and others in the area. It was very hard to see the bottom of the stream to even look for crayfish with the amount of leaves that were in it.

Algae Patch Now on Rocks
It must be interesting to generally see crayfish at your sit spot! the changes you observed on the rock with algae made me wonder if there is a relationship between algae and the weather.
I find it rather interesting that despite both of our spots being near waterways on campus, you were able to hear crickets when I heard none. I wonder why the crickets went quiet around 8PM but called out during the early morning. I had assumed it was due to the cold weather, but I’m sure the morning air was just as chilly as the nighttime air.
Your sit spot is really pretty! That’s awesome you saw it during the morning! Hopefully for your next different time visit, you can see some more wild life. I loved the pictures!
