The grass overfilled with water

The grass overfilled with water

The weather was very mild, it felt like it was about

Branches that have fallen on the floor

70oF. There were clouds covering the sky, and there was nothing else in sight in the sky. This spot has changed a lot since my last sit spot because most of the leaves that were on the ground are now gone. More branches are now on the floor, that have fallen off of the trees in the direction North of my sit spot. A lot of changes have happened since my first sit spot just a couple of months ago. Most of the trees now lack leaves. There are also only a few insects left, and I have not seen any other organism in a while. Also, it is not hot and humid like it was at the start at the sit spot, instead it is calmer weathers.

the vines on the tree are the same, I am sorry for the blurry photo

It retained really hard earliest that day, so the grass

was mushy and the creek in front of my sit spot ,NW of my sit spot, is overflowed with water, with most of the water on top of the grass. The Eastern Red cedar, that is south of my sit spot, still had its leaves. The tree that once grew white flowers still have leaves but for the most part majority of the trees were completely bare. Some trees have even lost their branches. The grass is probably one of the only plants that hasn’t changed that much over time.

Leaves at my first sit spot

I could only hear crickets and did not hear or see any

more animals or insects. To me their chirps were quite relaxing, and it was soothing to hear and to just take a break and be able to relax. The crickets could be heard in all directions, meaning they are widely dispersed. I wish I could see the moonlight and stars, but the rainy clouds are covering up the sky so much. The first thing I have been observing is the amount of leaves on the tree, and there is no more leaves on the tree compared to the first sit spot. The vines have stayed the same for the most part, but some have been eaten and are starting to turn brown. The final thing I have been observing is the tree with the flowers, and now the flowers are green berries turning into black berries, and the leaves are now turning brown and dying off.

These black berries were once the white flowers at the beginning of my sit spot

I really loved my time at my sit spot for many great

reasons. My sit spot experience gave me a chance to just relax in nature and observe nature in its best form. I got to see how plants can change over time, and I was also luck enough to see some animals that were actually interesting. Overall this sit spot made me appreciate nature more than I already have. I also started to learn about plants that I have never seen before, mainly because the plants that I have observed were only native to the East Coast, which was really important to me so that I may learn more about where I am going to stay for the next four years.

The leaves on the tree that once had white flowers are now turn gin a brown/reddish color and are falling off the tree

Thinking about all of my sit spot session I think my favorite sit spot session was my first sit spot. This is my favorite because of that one insect that kept on coming to me, and that I was lucky enough to take some photos of. I think this was very cool because the insect did not seem scar dos me, and I got to observe it for a long time which was relaxing and cool. I hope to keep that memory with me for a long time because that was really interesting to see especially for my firs sit spot. Overall I loved this experience, and I hope that I will keep this up and get to enjoy nature that is offered on this campus.
