Sit spot from the bridge-sunrise is starting to happen.
I arrived at my sit spot on 11/8/20 at the beginning of dawn, which was 6:30-7:30 a.m. I have not been to my sit spot at this time. I usually visit during the afternoon and as it was stated from my last blog, I do not like the dark but do much better during dawn or sunrise because that is when I’m up for work. I decided to do this time because I wanted to see what change there would be in the wildlife compared to what I’ve seen in the afternoon and the night visit(s). This means the activity of animals, birds, fish (all the aquatic species in the stream) and insects. Since I am observing the two dens and their activity, I wanted to see if there would be any difference since the last time I saw them. They did not have a lot of activity and one was slightly flooded during my night visit, I was hoping that their might be a sign of possible use once checked earlier in the morning.
I enjoyed this visiting experience a lot more then the last one! I am a lot more comfortable being out in the earlier hours of the day then the later ones. I loved seeing my sit spot at another time and being able to watch the sunrise and cast a beautiful light over the fall colors with the fog! I would definitely come and visit again at this time because I really enjoyed watching everything go from quiet to slowly waking up with the sun.
The weather was very brisk and damp-I believe around 45 degrees when I got there and only went up a few by the time I left once the sun was going up. It was slightly foggy along the wood line and stream but only in certain areas and since it was still slightly dark with only a haze of light from the sunrise, it kept the temperature low throughout my time there. The sky was clear and faded greyish blue was spread along the east side and became darker spanning farther away. The moon was still visible and very bright with the stars out along with it.
On my way back from my sit spot-one of the fields with a mountain view.
The insects were very quiet; there was minimal noise besides an occasional cricket( I believe so because that was what it sounded like) however I did see some black jet water beetles along the stream edge swimming around. The birds were more active in calling but not as much in movement but compared to the afternoon, it was still lower activity. It sounded like the same ones speaking every time. I was able to see a group of deer grazing, a doe with two fawns and it looked like the other two were bucks (I wasn’t able to see if they had racks or not because they got away quickly) on the grass beds where I do my sit spot but they disappeared into the woods before I could fully off the bridge.
This session compared to the last was an entirely different ball game. Since I wasn’t scared I was going to be eaten by a boogey man like I was during my night session, I was able to be more relaxed and comfortable which enabled me to pay more attention to my surroundings. I really like getting up early in the morning and being apart of the quietness before everything starts going again. There wasn’t anything I had seen from this session that I hadn’t in the last one-it was all the same organisms besides the deer. I wasn’t able to see them at night but I had heard them however this time I was actually able to see them in the open.
