I arrived at my sit spot at 6:51pm (dusk). I haven’t been to my sit spot so late before so it was a refreshing experience. I didn’t pick this time for any specific reason. This sit spot was drastically different because it was a lot wetter outside from rain. There were a lot more frogs and other amphibians out along with crickets. Frogs were croaking and leaping around while the crickets were chirping. I wouldn’t mind doing my sit spot at this time of day again because it wasn’t as bug infested as I expected it to be but I would much rather do it in the hotter months when its warm.
I think that the one thing that might’ve been different because of the time was the presence of crickets since they seem to come out at night more than any other time of the day. I think it could be because they mate at night or something like that. The frogs were most likely out because of the increase in moister on the ground. It was also colder in the evening versus during the day which is due to the slowly changing seasons.
It’s really cool that you were able to hear and see some frogs! A factor that also impacted when I visited my sit spot were the amount of bugs out at the time! I am not really sure what determines when these bugs come out by have found that at my spot they are most present at dusk.
Love the picture of the sunset! I bet it was way prettier in person. It’s also cool that you got to listen to the frogs and crickets! Mainly the only thing I hear in my sit-spot are the cars passing by on the interstate. great post!
I love when the sunset is that color! That time of day is great for hearing frogs, however, I was surprised that it was warm enough again for them to be out!
