sunset behind me (SE to sit spot).

I went to my sit spot at 5:50 PM and stayed until 6:35 PM. For sit spot #4 I chose to visit my sit spot at dusk(sunset) because I had never visited my sit spot at this time and I wanted to see how the life at my sit spot changes as night time came.

trees with progressive yellowing of leaves at sit spot

This visit was very different from the rest. I’m used to pesky bugs flying by, numerous bird calls, and animals in the woods scurrying around but this time everything was eerily quiet except for the cricket noises from the pond to the right of my sit spot(N). Since my last visit I noticed more yellowing of the leaves on the trees in my sit spot and more brown leaves on the ground.

The weather was about 65F, cool clear sky no wind or humidity. The sky changed from a pale yellow and baby blue gradient to a yellow and lavender gradient as I sat at my sit spot. Like I said, it was a clear sky so no clouds were blocking the sunset whatsoever. I saw a couple of birds flying in the sky away from my sit spot heading west. I saw one squirrel digging in the dead leaves on the opposite side of the creek from me. My sit spot wasn’t busy or teeming with life like I’m used to during the day so this experience was weird for me but relaxing. I would do this again since the weather was cooler and everything seemed to be settled down so I could focus more on certain things.

Siberian Elm Tree with its yellowing leaves.

Green Headed Coneflower losing its leaves and green coloring. You can see some of the eaten leaves in this picture.

Black Willow Tree with no signs of yellowing. Tree underneath is the same species as the "Siberian Elm" and has more yellow leaves.

For my first object, the green headed coneflower, the petals are still missing and it’s starting to lose its leaves. The remaining leaves have changed from a somewhat medium green color to a light green color and are showing signs of something eating them. The center part of the flower or green headed part has dried up and turned brown. For my second object, the “siberian elm tree”, more leaves are turning yellow or gaining more brown spots and my tree hasn’t dropped any leaves yet. For my third object, black willow tree, there’s no changes have occured. There’s no color change in leaves nor have any fallen. Some leaves are showing signs of being eaten though so I’m curious to see the effects of that on the tree.
