My sit- spot has changed a lot all over the semester. At the start of this project there where many gorgeous flowers, and flowing stream, and some beautiful shrubs. There was a pretty good amount of animal life with squirrels, birds, and water skaters in the stream. Now all the flowers are dead and shriveled up, the shrub has lost all its leaves, and the stream isn’t flowing anymore. There is now very little animal activity with the birds and water skaters gone, but still a couple of
squirrels.
As mentioned above, there wasn’t really much animal activity except some squirrels running around. The weather was a cold and windy 400 representing the colder winter weather we are getting. I observed all the plants are dead and wilted and the stream has stopped flowing-like it was clogged. The sky was a gorgeous cloudless pale blue.
Over the course of this semester my three objects have seen a lot of change. The shrub has gone from beautiful and leafy. The flowers where once very vibrant and alive and are now dead and mowed down. The only thing that did not see any changes is the bolder and it saw no major changes.
This experience overall has been a very positive experience. Starting my first semester of college- especially in the midst a global pandemic- has been very stressful. Having a spot and sometime where I could go and decompress and enjoy nature was extremely helpful. I have even found myself going to this spot other times during the semester to read or just decompress on our gorgeous campus. I think one thing during all this that stuck out to me was how drastically the stream changed over this project. I don’t think there was a time where the stream was the same, it was flowing one week, and then covered is grass or moss the next week. It was extremely interesting to watch the stream change.
Your sit spot is really pretty and looks like the best place to relax! I loved seeing and reading about your changes- which there was a lot!!
Hey Riley, you did a great job with your sit spot blog. I found it really interesting that at the end of your sit spot investigation, the stream was no longer flowing; I would have thought with the excessive amount of rainfall we got on campus in the last two weeks would have caused the stream to overflow. However, I wonder if your sit spot was upstream and if all of the water, instead, flowed downstream. Also, I found that my sit spot provided the same relief to me that it did for you; I found that it was a place that I could go to when I was a bit overwhelmed.
Your sit spot is so pretty! It’s hard to tell from the picture, but to me, I see some differences in the boulder. They may be small changes, but the surface may have changed slightly. And it also looks like the “crack” between the boulder has widened slightly.
Your sit spot looks so relaxing! I thought it was interesting how the stream stopped flowing, could be because of the colder months rolling in
