For this sit-spot blog, I have decided to go during the daytime. I decided to visit my sit-spot from 3:22 P.M. to 4:02 P.M. For as long as I have been observing my sit-spot, I have only been to my sit-spot in the daytime, due to the easier accessibility to more contact with organisms and an overall clarity. With the weather, it was a very unique sit-spot in comparison to the other ones that I had before.  Prior to arriving there, I knew that not everything would be as active as it would be during the day, but I was still curious.

On this sit-spot blog, November 18th, 2019, I arrived after walking from my last class of the day. The weather was cold and wet, with it raining the entire time I was at my sit-spot. This made this sit-spot a lot less enjoyable, due to the fact that the ground was wet and it was getting wetter and wetter every second that passed sitting on my towel. The temperature was 39 °F with a little breeze and high amounts of precipitation. Although I didn’t want to, sitting helped me focus more on the things I should be focused.

From my last session, things have changed quite a bit. The gloominess of the day is actually a significant change, for it was really rainy and the area looked a bit rough due to the weather, in terms of broken branches and fallen, decaying leaves all over the ground. The weather was nasty, with cold, brisk air, wind, and rain. The sky this time was blanketed with a grey, soft sheet of clouds that completely covered the sky, and the sun was covered, so it was a little darker than normal at this time of day. Overall, it was very muggy outside. The only organism I saw was a water glider (insect) on what was left of the stream. It was just resting on the surface of the water, only being moved by the raindrops from the sky onto the water. I didn’t see or hear much else other than the pitter-patter of rain on the water and the leaves on the ground, which is understandable because there really isn’t an abundance in organisms in the rain. The time of the day is not a new experience for me, but the weather conditions is a first for me; I would never actually sit outside in the cold and the rain without this assignment previously. But, it was actually very relaxing, so I would actually do it again.

Compared to my previous session, this session was very different. Since it was daytime this time, organisms such as moths were not present at this time of day. Also, with the weather, from last time being relatively dry and cold and this time being cold and wet, there is a lack of organisms outside in general, so the change resided in that as well. It was obviously brighter in the daytime than nighttime session, and it was different overall.
