Sketch of my sit-spot
I arrived at my sit-spot at about 12:45 pm and stayed until 2:26 pm. I chose my sit-spot in a somewhat open field, specifically in a place called Brookside park. In this field I am surrounded by lush greenery, a creek, and many different plants and animals. I decided on this sit-spot because I’ve never been there, there was not a lot of foot traffic, and it caught my eye when I saw pictures on the internet. I also picked this place because I feel like a lot will be changing over the next couple of months, which will be interesting to watch.
The plants around me are entangled in on another, there were vines hanging off trees, and in a way, they looked as if they were connected in some way. The plants were very green, the good type of green, I took in those colors, because those green leaves will soon start to fade because of the changing seasons. The leaves were still intact on these trees and bushes and when I examined them a bit closer, I noticed there had been some insect that may have nibbled on these plants.

While sitting in sit-spot, I experienced so many amazing things. While sitting down, I heard so many different sounds, that I never payed attention to before. I heard to what seemed to be the right of me, were some crickets rubbing their little legs together to possibly attract a mate. I heard the leaves rustling in the slight breeze and I heard the faint sound of the rusted swing set swinging in the wind. I had the opportunity to listen to a baby bird screaming for its mother, and it seemed to be coming from the back of me. I saw and heard some squirrels playing a game of tag in the trees. I saw and heard the trickling water brushing against the rocks in the stream, right in front of me. I heard a crow screaming at the top of their lungs, as if their life depended on it.
While I was at my sit-spot I looked up at the sky and realized it was a bit overcast, and it made my experience even better. I love when it is cloudy or rainy outside, it just made my sit-spot so much more peaceful and enjoyable. To the right of me I tried to examine some wildflowers, they were so eye-catching due to the brightness of their colors. They were purple, yellow, and white, I couldn’t make out the type of flowers they were, but I think I have seen them before. I saw a couple of bees hovering over the wildflowers, buzzing away, and doing their busy job of pollinating those flowers. I tried to distinguish some smells, I discovered some smells, none of which I liked. There seem to be a smell of freshly cut grass and foul sewer smell, I was not the biggest fan of those smells, but they were bearable.
I found my first sit-spot experience very peaceful and enjoyable; I was a bit apprehensive about it at first, but I clearly had no reason to be. This experience allowed me to completely disconnect, which is something I needed to do. So many changes have been occurring in my life, and I felt like I couldn’t really relax or disconnect, and this activity did. It was some time to myself that I needed, and I think everyone should attempt to do this at least twice a month. I often find myself not even thinking twice about nature and what is going on with it because I feel like I never have the time. I’m really glad I had the chance to take in the nature around me, it allowed me to appreciate things I never did before.
I chose to track this one wildflower that was this bright lavender color. It was so bright and that’s why it caught my attention. The center of the flower was a deeper purple color, and the “pedals’ were very thing spine looking things, and they had bright green leaves surrounding them, which also had been nibbled on. I am also going to track another wildflower that has not bloomed yet. I chose to track it because I can’t wait to what it turns out to look like. This little bud had these very skinny and petite leave on the outside of them. I also chose to keep a look out for this tree that seemed to be right in front of me. This tree looked like it had been split in two and it looked like the tree’s bark was starting to peel off. I want to continue to exam this tree to see if the bark will continue to come off.
