(1) On the left is the picture from my first sit spot, and on the right is from my last sit spot.

(2) Here you see on the left side the first picture I took of the American Sycamore, which is one of the three things I focused on. Then on the right is when I went for the last time.

(3) On the left, you can see that there were squirrels out more in my first spot blog then the photo in the right when there aren’t any.

(4) On the left is the first sit spot you can see that the grass was green and that there were only a few leaves on the ground, on the right is the last, one and it is less green, but completely covered in leaves.

Since Sit Spot Blog #5, it hasn’t changed all that much. A few differences that I noticed were that the weather fluctuates all the time and the temperature and that is was weirdly felt warmer than it did on my last blog, that was probably due to the fact the wind blowing. I did see a few more squirrels than I did this time, which was really none or one. Also, the dead squirrel is gone, probably either decomposed or the hawk took the body away. The one thing new I noticed was that animals do not really come out all that much during the evening. Since I did my blog at 4:00pm on Thursday, December 5th.

I chose each of the three focuses for this sit spot was the American Sycamore, the Squirrel count, and the grass. I wanted to see for the tree what would happen to the branches and leaves over the semester. What I found out was that once the leaves left the tree and fallen, the branches were bare, and they had more of a chance to break off, which one of the biggest branches did. So I concluded once winter comes trees are most, exposed and could break and are more likely seem to die. (see pictures 2). It was interesting to see the bark and the way it changed from looking like a normal tree to it being white at the top. The grass there were only two changes one was that it became less green over time and that by the end of this sit spotting that it was mostly covered in leaves (see picture 4). Then the squirrels became less and less coming out probably due to the wind and how cold it has been (see picture 3).

This experience has been a treat, to go out in nature and just sit with no technology has been calming. I 100% have a new perspective on life and will spend more time outside, but when it is in the spring as I do not do well outside in the summer or the winter. I did learn that life could end and begin really quickly from seeing the dead squirrel to seeing the trees hibernate etc. I want to appreciate more on what nature has to offer us as humans and especially since climate change has affected it in such negative ways.

The coolest experience I think I ever had was seeing and observing the behavior of the squirrels chasing after each other on the tree. I have not really noticed how they interacted with each other until I saw that behavior and I will 100% remember that the most a year from now.
