I decided to visit my sit-spot at dawn today since I had to feed the calves around that time anyway. I got there at 6:00 and stayed until 7:00. It was 52 degrees Fahrenheit but there was a thick fog that cooled the air down quite a bit. Because of the fog, I couldn’t see the sky.

The farm animals were much more active than they were at night, which wasn’t very surprising. I waited until I was finished with my observations to go feed so I had quite the chorus in the background. The koi were not as active as they were at night, most likely because the air was cooler. I tried to get a picture of them this morning, but they were all much deeper below the surface. While I was out, I collected some data for my independent research project as well. The birds began to sing at 6:14 and as the morning went on, their songs got louder and louder. This was different from last time because I didn’t hear any birds singing at night.

I found both of times of day very relaxing, but I preferred the dawn observation. I liked being able see more once the sun started coming up. I also really enjoyed getting to watch the world around me “wake up.” I don’t always like getting up very early, but it was a great way to start of a Monday morning.
