I decided to go to my temporary sit-spot at night for the first session. My spot is in an area towards the back of my grandparents’ farm. There is a gazebo with four man-made ponds surrounding it. I started around 6:30 pm and stayed until 7:30 pm on November 8th. It was 55 degrees Fahrenheit and the sky was fairly clear. There wasn’t too much of a breeze but there was definitely a chill in the air.

Since I was on the farm, I could hear all of the animals. The chickens, roosters, guineas, and ducks are the closest to the gazebo and I could hear them clucking with the occasional “cock-a-doodle-doo” from our young roosters. There are four two-week-old bull calves right down from my spot and they were mooing in response to the light from my flashlight; in hopes that I was bringing them another bottle. I also saw the koi swimming around in the pond.

Since I couldn’t check-in on my original 3 things, I picked a few things around my spot that I found interesting. First, I picked this pink rosebush that I planted when I was a kid. I was very surprised that it was still in bloom since we have a few frosts already this year. Secondly, I decided to look out our biggest koi we have right now. He isn’t very big, we have two barn cats that will snatch them before they get too big, but he stayed near the top of the pond while I was there. It was very relaxing to just watch him swim around. The last thing I picked to look at was medium sized bush with small, light green blooms. It is hard to tell during this season, but it is a hydrangea, or a “snowball bush.”
