I arrived at my sit spot by the library around 5:24 it was around the time I got off of work and it happened to be sunset. I was there for roughly an hour and during that hour is usually when I go there anyway, my sitspot sessions have alwasy been around 6. So that’s around my usual time i go except this time it was sunset. In the previous times I went sunset wasn’t for at least a couple more hours, it was bright and hot, and no sign of night in line. I also chose this time because I knew I was not going to be able to wake up to do my sitspot at dawn so dusk was my only choice.
Since the sun was setting at this time the weather was getting cold and chilly since dark of the night had rolled through. The temperature was in the low 50s with slight wind chills. The sky had a beautiful sunset color, the sun directly in the middle with a grey blue sky in the background. That was just to the left of me as I look straight forward its just blue with a couple cotton white clouds swimming in it. Barely seen but mostly heard, only birds and their night bird songs. I know there were different species although I could not see them because it was dark, but I heard the different bird callings and knew they were not the same. Other than that nothing wanted to come out, I was hoping to see some deer since it was getting dark but they were elsewhere.
It was almost like being at my sitspot at a different time different ambiance different activity, it was very quiet and very peaceful. I can only imagine how much more quiet and peaceful it would be at dawn. So experiencing this new atmosphere was very nice, the only thing is that I wish I could see a lot better. It was nicer that it was cold out because it meant less bugs which is always a plus for me.
For a comparison of my two sit spots I really enjoyed my last sit spot better, for the sole reason that I could see. The quiet and peacefulness was nice, but there is something about the gift of sight that really puts a place together. I would have been able to enjoy a beautiful fiery red pine tree that was in the middle of changing its colors for fall. The only thing lit up was the sky and it was barely that pretty pink orangey sunset but more of blue gray sunset with one bright spot on the horizon.
Hey!
I can definitely relate that it can be very peaceful when going to your sit-spot during times such as dusk or dawn, since it is so peaceful, but not being able to see is a big downside to it. I’m glad you were able to witness a nice sunset that day!
