My sit spot is behind the sports field across from the tennis courts. When I am sitting in my sit spot, my back if facing West, to my right is South, to my left is North and in front of me is East. The spot is on the West side of the creek on a pile of rocks.
As I walked around my sit spot I decided to observe the snails that were in the creek. The first snail I found was a snail that was on a rock, it wasn’t in the creek and when I turned it over I saw it opened to the left but there was nothing in it. I found only one other lunged snail. However, I found 21 gilled snails. Most of the gilled snails were where the water followed the most while the lunged snail was near more still water. I also found one animal that I believe is a hermit crab, the shell opened in the middle, not to the left or right. That animal was in the more still water like the lunged snail.
While I was walking around I also saw fish for the first time at my sit spot. I saw these bubbles at the bottom of the creek floor too, it was like it was coating the ground.
While I was there I got to see some of the adaptions in the organisms there. First I saw that the fish there were pretty small. This gave the fish an advantage to easily swim through the cracks of the rocks in the creek. I also saw a mole while I was at my sit spot. He came out of the forest and swam across the creek. He was fast as he swam through the water, this is an adaptation because they are ground animals and they only swim when needed. The other adaptation I saw were some insects that were sitting on the top of the water. They were gliding across the top of the water making it easy to eat the smaller insecpt and microorganisms on the water.
The things I chose to follow changed a bit. The plant that I was following was the tree behind me that produced some kind of red looking berries. The first time I sat there, there were a lot of the berries but when I went there for the second time there were very few there. There were some green ones but they looked a bit different from the red berries. The burnt orange water changed aswell. It looked like it settled and is spreading further into the creek. It is not orange but it looks like it is very similar.
Lastly, The environment was different from the first time I went there. It was a lot cooler and there was no wind. I could smell more than just dirt, I could also smell the water and the grass. I could also hear the birds more clearly due to the fact that the cicadas were not chirping. However, there was chirping of an insecpt that sounded like a constant high-pitched chirp. I could also hear the water flowing between the rocks on the east side of the creek.
I think our sit spots are really close to one another, if not in the same place. I saw some of that cloudy orange water in my sit spot that wasn’t there before. The berries you spotted that were green, do you think those are just the red ones that aren’t fully ripe? I’m curious about what type of berries they are.
