Sunny, Windy Morning

I decided to do my sit spot before work so that I would be able to flow through my day better because my Tuesday was a stressful day! My 15 minutes of just sitting there flew by! During my 15 minutes I was able to watch leaves fall from the trees slowly, I even noticed that the leaves would fall after every little breeze, and they would do it so “elegantly.” I also got to see another squirrel! It wasn’t in my backyard but it was in my neighbors so I focused on it heavily during my focused time because I could hear it running back and forth across the branches at least five times within ONE minute, it was moving so fast. My sit spot is very quiet, animal and people wise so there wasn’t much to see.

Although my sit spot is a quiet place it is also very loud! It is off a busy road so my entire 15 minutes I could hear many many cars speeding fast. The cars distracted me a little but towards the end also helped me be able to tune them out! The sounds I heard from the beautiful scenery around me were birds singing loudly but beautifully. Since the weather changed so fast, I just forgot that the seasons didn’t change as fast so the birds are still going to be around for a while. I also heard the very LOUD and OBNOXIOUS crickets that are there all day everyday “chirping” on. I personally have never seen crickets in real life so today I decided to find them after my focused time so I followed the sound to the northwest direction but when I got closer I couldn’t see them so I was really upset :(.

The invertebrate that I decided to watch was an ant after a failed attempt to capture a picture or video of a bee that was just hanging out on a leaf. It took me a while to find something else to watch because my sit spot was as dry as a desert but just as soon as I was about to give up I looked at the ground next to the steps I was sitting on and saw ants! They weren’t carrying anything or doing anything besides walking! There were a couple just hanging out walking from leaf to leaf all alone but then there were some who were playing “follow the leader.” It was a bigger black ant strolling across the leaves as many other ants followed along. I was thinking that maybe they were going “hunting” for food! Honestly I have always thought that ants were pointless, I never understood their purpose or how they contributed to life and nature but I thought it was pretty cool that they did “group” activities especially if they weren’t going looking for food!

Thinking of the role of water was/is hard for me because I don’t think it’s playing much of a role and if it is, I don’t know what it is! There hasn’t been rain in a few days and there isn’t water anywhere close to my backyard. I just kind of thought that maybe organisms are demonstrating homeostasis in order to stay up to date on nutrients and fluids! I think that plants/ trees are possibly still using leftover water that is in the soil and osmosis in order to receive the proper water and nutrients it needs! I just can’t pinpoint any thoughts on what role water is carrying in my sit spot right now, it’s kind of in the air for me!

Overall since my first sit spot nothing has really changed! The only real change is that the leaves are truly starting to change their colors and my ground is starting to fill up full of them! Another change is the fact that the weather is getting colder and I am excited! There wasn’t a dramatic change in any of my three items except for the new plants that are popping up in between my heart shaped leaf plants that I still cannot name. 🙁 It was definitely easier to connect to my surroundings this time but the feeling I got from it was the same! I truly am starting to enjoy myself, it’s becoming my peace and it’s only the beginning!
