My sit spot area

I arrived at my sit spot at 7:13-8:15 i.e. at dawn on 18th November, Monday. Previously I went during mid-day and I really wanted to go at dawn this time. I was hoping to observe the colors in the sky change with the rising sun but unfortunately, the sky was too cloudy and I could not even see the sun. I really wanted to see how active organisms in my sit spot are at that hour. Not that I have a lot of visits from organisms but I was hoping to find something.

View of the creek from my sit spot

The weather was moderately cold. The temperature was 39oF. It was not windy which is why it didn’t feel very cold. Looking at the sky it looked as if it was about to rain but I am really thankful it didn’t. The sky looked greyish white. The bare brown trees looked very beautiful against the grey sky. Some of the trees that were yellow in my last session had all lost their leaves. There were a lot more bare trees this time. I was amazed by how it happened in such a short span of time. The whole area looks emptier than before. I could literally spot my sit-spot from a long-distance whereas, during my first few visits, I had to walk inside a bush to reach there.

The view of the sky

I could see much more foliage on the grass but the foliage on the creek was washed off. I am assuming it went along with the water. The level of the water on the waterfall was moderate. The flow of the creek was rapid for some reason. The sound of the creek and the waterfall makes me relax every time I visit my sit spot. It is undoubtedly one of the most comforting sounds I’ve ever heard out in nature. Other than the sound of the water, I could not hear much. There weren’t a lot of insect noises at that hour. It did feel a little weird because even though I did not see many organisms on my sit spot, there would be a lot of buzzing noises going around. I always tried to identify the sounds. Another surprising fact was that I couldn’t hear or see any birds either. At first, I felt like I heard some chirping but it did not go on for a long time.

Bush Honeysuckle

I felt like this time around I felt more connected to nature. Maybe because it was really early in the morning. Although I had a great experience last time too, I felt like this time was more refreshing for me. I am not really a morning person but this felt really good. I did feel a little disappointed that the sky wasn’t as clear as I hoped it would be. But it’s alright. It was a great experience. I would definitely do this again but maybe in summer when it will be warmer.
