Sit spot summer (top) vs winter (bottom)

My last sit spot was quite relaxing and somewhat uneventful. It was very cold and I was not dressed for the occasion.  The sky was clear and light blue as the sun began to set. It was completely silent (other than the highway). I heard something (most likely a squirrel) moving around in a tree above me, but that was it. Back during the summer time, I would hear birds, squirrels, and deer pretty regularly. My sit spot hasn’t changed much, probably due to the fact I am in an evergreen area of the forest. The moss and lichen that cover the ground and trees have not changed. However, my dogwood sapling has dropped its leaves.

Although I didn’t see much wildlife at my sit spot, I came across a deer carcass near the parking lot at the trail head. Judging by how close he was to the rode, I believe he had been hit by a car. The body hadn’t started to decompose, however it was picked clean of meat. I came to the conclusion that whoever hit him had come and taken the meat as well as the antlers (that area of the skull had been sawed off). (I won’t include the image in case it’s too graphic for some).

Looking back on this experience, I wish I had chosen a more deciduous spot, just so I could have observed a more drastic change from one season to another than that of an evergreen forest.
