One day as I was walking back to my apartment after work, I found my sit-spot, on the side of the library closest to East lot. It was a nice wide area where I was able to see many things Full of freshly cut grass as well as many trees who are unfazed by falls fast approach, bright green and leafy. As well as a small stream trickling under the bridge which goes all the way down campus emptying out into the creek towards the entrance of campus. I laid my blanket on the nice patch of grass surrounded on all sides of images worth describing.

My experience at my sit spot was very pleasant, it was the evening so it was cooling down but it was still very humid, but the sun was setting so it wasn’t radiating as much heat as it was earlier. The grass was cut short so I wasn’t freaking out as much about the amount of bugs or things like I would have if the grass was taller. Another thing that made my sit spot a pleasant one is that it’s an open patch of grass that’s surrounded by trees and plants and such so nothing is really towering over me, which allows me to also enjoy the sky and the clouds as well as anything passing over by

Another part that made me enjoy my sit spot is the two deer, any time I see a deer it brings a smile to my face just them peacefully eating the grass not being disturbed by me just calmly watching them. Not being spooked by my presence like most deer are, is a really good thing because this means I may see them again or other animals such as a groundhog, especially because of the stream, I know they enjoy the water so I am hoping I get to experience one during a future sit spot time.

My first focused time was very beneficial, it allowed me to clear my mind and not be so afraid of the nature surround me because I was very afraid of any type of spider or large bug landing on me or my blanket disturbing my time enjoying nature but doing the focus time before that definitely helped calm that which was very beneficial. The focus time honestly is just like a meditation and I always try to get in a couple meditations a week but never can because I’m usually too busy but now that is a required thing that I have to do for a class is definitely a really good thing for me and for most college students, because you let go of that stress and constant running of the brain just for a little and get to pay attention to the things surrounding you.

The first thing that I decided that I was going to follow is the stream, this stream runs from the back of the school, through the campus passing turner, going on continuing behind Dana, passing the rock and then finally emptying into Carvin Creek. I chose this stream because I think it will be an interesting addition to my blog and I just love the sound of water over rocks. Although during this visit the stream was very low I imagine as time goes on that trickling sound will be very nice. The second thing I chose was a tree, this tree is on the other side of the stream but I can still see it very clearly. This tree is very tall, at the top it is very bare and has lost all its leaves but as your eyes move down you see this mossy long plant just dangling from the branches. I chose this tree because of my grandpa. When my grandparents moved to South Carolina, and I visited them my grandpa pointed out this tree that had this same type of mossy plant dangling from the branches and called it a voodoo tree because he said it reminded him of witchcraft and voodoo, so anytime I see a tree like that I think of him. Lastly my third object I chose to watch was what I call a tree bush, because I’m not sure what it is, it could be a tree or it could be a bush. I chose this because it just really interests me it was just so pretty and the vibrancy of green was just so bright and I’m very excited to see how it changes over time.

I’m really happy with the sit spot I chose, I just feel like it is just so full of life that each time I go there will be very different just because there is so much to see and pay detailed attention to.
