I entered my sit spot at 3:36 pm. The weather was chilly but not to the point that my hands and feet got cold. The sun was still shining, and I was accompanied by a light cool breeze. During my 15 minutes of observation, I found myself staring at the prayer flags on the bamboo bush. The flags were swaying in a melodic manner which really relaxed me and gave me peace of mind. I also noticed a beautiful red flower growing right across my garden, in front of me. It looked like a rose, so I went near it to check if it’s a rose or not. I noticed the thorns which confirmed my guess. The crows were constantly cackling, and I heard numerous birds chirping. I also noticed that there were a lot more dry bamboo leaves on the ground.

From the three objects that I followed; I saw no difference in the rocks. In fact, the picture that I took last time looks exactly the same as the one I took this time. (Even the placement of the bamboo leaves!). It was still dry because we haven’t received rain in quite a while. The yellow hibiscus flower was not leaning towards me. Last time, it was leaning on the wall behind it, so the wind must have brought it forward. I also noticed more flowers. The flower on the top of the plant from last time seems to have bloomed fully now. The bamboo bushes were about the same height. However, there were many more tall bamboo shoot spikes. This gave the bush a thicker appearance and made it look wilder as you can see in the video clip.

I was really excited to observe the sky. However, I got disappointed to see that there were no prominent clouds with beautiful shapes. I was hoping to see magnificent clumping clouds. One half of the sky was clear blue with not even a speck of cloud in it. This slowly transitioned into a light layer of cloud on the other half of my view. The gradient is immaculate as you can see in the picture. It almost looked like a painting. This is what I believe are called stratus clouds. The wind was coming in from the south side. I did not get to compare this with the movement of the cloud because I was not able to see any movement. There were no dark clouds, which meant no signs of rain.

Then, I focused on a patch of grass right next to my sit spot.  I noticed a lot more clovers. This was something I had not noticed the last time I was here. There were dead leaves amongst the new plant growths. I also saw a few ants here and there, but they were only visible when they walked on top of the dry bamboo leaves. It’s really hard to see ants amongst the grass! I also tried to find a four-leaved clover but had no luck. I also got a bit of entertainment at the end when my dog started angrily growling at a cat who was chilling under my mom’s car.

In the end, I had not realized how calm and relaxed I felt when I am in my sit spot. Noticing changes in my garden for the past few weeks has been really therapeutic for me. Like the guy in the cloud video said, understanding nature around me really helped me get peace of mind and a well-deserved break from all the technology taking over our lives.
