Time: 1:00-1:45
Temperature: 51 (Sunny)
Today the sky was clear, and it felt great to see the sun after a long time. The temperature is getting low, it is getting windier day by day. I could feel a soft breeze as I closed my eyes for a while. I could hear the rustling of leaves and the sound of the wind. This time I could not hear any birds or the crickets, and that was quite sad. It might be because of the cold that their population is getting low. I mainly focused on the wind this time, as it was the only thing that was very distinct. The wind was heavier than the last time I was here, and it’s getting colder.
The objects have changed a lot when compared with the first time I noted them. I looked around for dried leaves and twigs; there were a lot less this time. The few ones on the ground were mostly brown. There were hardly a few leaves on the tree. Towards the southeast side, there was a barren tree and there used to be a lot of European hornets hovering around the tree. The hornets were gone! I could not spot a single one of them. Then, I moved closer to the cut-open tree. Last time, I saw ants marching inside the cut open tree, this time I could not spot a single insect. Also, the tiny green plant growing beside her isn’t there anymore.
The sky was clear, and I could not spot any clouds there. It feels good to be underneath the blue sky after a long time. The wind was coming from the south-west direction. My assumption is that the clouds could move in the direction of the prevailing wind. There were no clouds above to confirm this assumption, but I will make sure to check it!
I closed my eyes for a while. I was then able to focus more. I could hear the rustling of leaves and the sound of the wind. After I closed my eyes, it was easy to visualize my tiny sit spot as I had already looked at it before. I admired the falling leaves I derive pleasure from the silent trees, the falling leaves, russet leaves covering the ground, and the congealed relics of the autumn season. I feel grateful to be surrounded by nature. I felt like no other time of the year can provide you with such a privilege to enjoy your loneliness and feel how the weather shares your passions.
It felt relaxing, shutting my eyes and listening to the sound of nature. The tranquil environment was perfect to be mindful, and connect with nature. The warmth from the late afternoon sun along with the light breeze gave me a sense of comfort and nostalgia. It took me back to my memories from childhood when I used to sit in my garden with my grandmother. I felt grateful to be at such peace. The noise inside my mind has reduced a lot and I think visiting my sit spot has helped me destress. The whole experience was therapeutic. It felt good to not think about anything else for an hour. It felt good ditching my phone inside the pocket of my joggers and not having them out.
Binika! I love your pictures. It looks so sunny, I love it! I love how you have connected your experience with your personal life. Reading that I felt nostalgic too! I agree how this exercise has definitely helped me calm down a lot! Thank you for sharing your experience~ It seems wonderful!
It was interesting to read how we had similar experiences in our sit spot, especially with your observations of the hollow stump over time/ the changes that it experienced. In my sit spot too I noticed a large decrease in the amount of bugs, specifically ants, that I found on or in the tree at my sit spot. We both noticed an increased in that kind of activity, which I found interesting!
as always great pics! good work on your blog!
