The weather at the time was very cold. It felt about 60oF, which for me was very cold. There was no wind during my sit spot session, which I was happy for because that would make me even colder than I was at that moment. I decided to go to my sit spot at dusk, because to me it seemed like an interesting time of day to go an observe nature.
While I was sitting at my sit spot I could see the sun set on the clouds, which was beautiful. I have not
been at my sit spot at duck before, I have usually gone midday, so it was a nice change of scenery to see the sun fall of the things I was observing. The trees were almost completely bare, with most of the dead leaves laying on the grass. The trees with any leaves left on their branches, had the leaves that started to change color.
The three things that I have been keeping track on have changed a lot since the last time I was at my sit spot. The tree that is West of my sit spot location all of the white flowers are gone, and they have now turned into berries. The branches and
leaves are starting to fall, which is leading the tree I am observing to be bare, which has changed a lot from my first sit spot. The final thing that had changed is more of the leaves on
the vines are starting to turn brown and die, and the proceed to fall off the vines.
I heard a lot of organisms that I have heard in the past, so there were no new organisms to that I could hear. Some of the organisms that I heard in the past is crickets. I saw a flock of
black birds that were headed in a South West direction, the birds if I had to guess were ravens. I also saw two squirrels, that could have been siblings, play with each other by running through multiple trees, and one was chasing the other. They squirrels were a café brown color, with very fluffy tails.
The sky was a mixture of blue with this beautiful pink color that was very beautiful. It was not cloud soul you can see the sky very clearly without any problem. The sky was so clear in fact you can see the excess residue that was left by jets and airplanes that
were flying in the sky. If I could do my sit spot again at dusk I would most definitely do it, because it was interesting to see how the sunset on the sky. I would also come back to see if I stay for a longer period, if I will see any more insects, to see if most insects are more active during the day, or whether or not there are some insects that like to be more active at the dusk time period. I hope that I can some back to my sit spot at place because I wonder if I could see any deer come down to my sit spot, or any other big creature as long as it is not dangerous, and can hurt me.
It’s very cute that you could see squirrels chasing each other. I noticed a lot of the same changes at my sit spot (and just around campus haha) like leaves falling and plants dying. Cool observation about the directions the birds were flying towards – maybe they’re migrating due to the season change.
