The weather is very about the about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and for me it was a bit chilly. I was hoping to see the sunrise, but there was a beautiful thick cloud of fog came down instead. The main reasons I picked to come to my sit spot at dawn, to not only compare dawn to dusk, but to also see how pretty the morning is.
Most of the trees had few to little, excluding the trees that have needle leaves, and most of the leaves are scattered all over the grass. This sit spot session was one of the only sessions where I have not heard any
type of insects during my time there. All that I could hear was birds chirping in the morning. I heard at least two different types of species of the birds. I can’t see them so I can’t describe them in detail. One sounded like a raven, and the other species of bird I heard had a high pitch chirp, and chipped every few seconds.
There was only bird that I saw was a small black bird was falling out of the forest towards the campus, which is NW. I wish I could see more of my
surrounding, but the fog was so heavy this morning that I could not see anything more than within a mile of my sit spot. One insect that I know is near, but can not physically see or hear is a spider. I know that there has to be a spider in the region, because there was a new spider web on the tree that was North of my sit spot location. Up closes you can see faint dew drops the spider web.
I also see a lot more branches on the floor that have fallen from the trees that are now already scattered on the grass. Most of the branches have had these grey, and light green mold
spots that where all over the branches. From looking at the nubs on the branches, I can tell that the leans belong to the tree that grew opposite, but since I don’t know the trees leaves I can’t tell you if they are compound or not. It is most likely from the tree above my space it looks like it grows opposite.
This time period was way different than last time because there was heavy fog. It is also a lot chiller than the sit spot before. Also last time the trees all around
me had more leave, but over the the span of like a week most of the trees had lost all or majority of their leaves. I also have seen many people mainly professors, walk by compared to the last time I did my sit spot. I think I heard only birds this session because from what I know they wake up super early, so they are more active in the morning session. I think this sit was more relaxing and beautiful than the other session mainly because of the fog. Also at the end of the started to hear crickets southeast of my sit spot.
Fog around here can definitely be eerie looking! I do not know why, but it is. It is also sad to see all of the leaves gone from the trees, but the leaves they leave on the ground can be beautiful! While I hate spiders and all, I do love a great looking web. The amount of detail and precision is amazing! It is so hard to believe that animals just know how to do these things to make the bests homes and nests that they can. Awesome pic of the web!
The fog is so beautiful, what an unexpected lovely experience! Your blog is very detailed, good job!
Hey! The fact that you described 50 degree weather at dawn as “a bit chilly” just made me mutter “bro…” I could never! Once it hits anywhere below 60 degrees, I’m staying indoors.
Nice descriptions with the animals, trees, and spider webs. I think I also hear ravens whenever I go to my sit spot in the morning. I’m glad the fog made you feel at peace; I’m sure you needed it after waking up and probably going straight to journaling for an assignment!
