I decided to go to my sit-spot at 3:04pm on Sunday the 25th. Normally, I tend to visit my sit-spot during the week and after all my classes are completed which is typically around 4pm or later. I like to normally go at dusk, but this blog post I decided the daytime would be the best time to go. My observations at the time were mainly focused on the light rain and the grey sky. Even though it was raining lightly, it was the type of rain that will leave you soaked without you even knowing it was happening.
As I sat there looking out at my surrounding, all I could focus on is the drop in the temperature and the rainy grey weather. The sky seemed closer to the ground almost as if I could jump up and touch it. It was covering as far as the eye could see in a grey foggy like cloud. There was no sun to seen and there was no blue anywhere to be found in the sky. Just a grey sheet of fog above me. Even though, I was so focused on the weather, I happened to notice how more and more leaves have fallen from the trees that are in my sit-spot.
The tree that I sat under had more leaves fall off the branches from the last time I was out here. Also, the trees that are to the northwest of me, behind the green and white fire hydrant have lost most of their leaves as well. Since the seasons are changing, the leaves have already changed for the most part, so now they are beginning to fall off quicker. Since it was a bit cold outside, there were no animals around me, not sure why but I am guessing they wanted to stay in their homes and keep warm. All and all, I enjoyed the time of day I chose, which was the afternoon. I would choose this time again, if I have the time do come out to my sit-spot during this time.
My three objects in my sit-spot I chose in the first blog were, the tree I sit under, the grass surrounding me, and the little hump at the bottom of the hill before heading up to the new apartments. The hump looked just about the same, just the grass around it has become brown and is shorter than it has been since I last observed it. The tree that I sit under I’ve noticed has lost a lot of leaves have fallen and the bark was darker than usual due to the rain. Lastly, my third object I am observing is the grass around me. It is now covered in leaves but some parts to the north and the northwest of me have started to lose its green color it once had in the summer. The grass is now a light brown color.
I also noticed that there were fewer animals this time and this trend also went along with the amount of sun, so it might be because of the looming storm as well as the season change. Having the picture of the open grass and the one with the leaves covering the grass adds to an interesting comparison as you discussed the change.
I never thought of going to my sit spot on the weekend. I wonder if it was more enjoyable because it was the weekend? I also think it’s cool how the sky looks, it gives off a bit of a creepy vibe, perfect for Halloween.
