Time in: 9:38 am, Time out: 10:20
For today’s sit-spot, I went during the daytime. I typically go during this time of day, but I mainly chose this time due to the conveinance of how it fits into my schedule. It was also convenient since for my last sit-spot I went during the night, and it was difficult to clearly observe certain aspects of my surroundings, such as the trees and clearing about me. I also just knew that it would be more interesting during the day time, since there is a greater chance to encounter more organisms.
It was a gloomy day out. The sky was gray and the air was a bit thick. I had a feeling that it might rain, so I went to check and sure enough it was. Good thing though that it was not so cold outside today compared to a few days ago, otherwise the rain would be quite horrible.

The difference between my sit-spot experience from night and day is what it is: night and day. So much has changed in my sit-spot area. First off, most of the trees in the NE side of me had lost their leaves. Before it was so dense that you could not even see past to look at the water, but now you can clearly spot Dana out in the distance. Also a very noticeable difference was the change in color for all the grasses in the opening clearing just a few steps from my sit-spot. Before it was all still a vibrant green, but now the grasses have dried and browned. Almost as if someone had put the “Sepia tone” filter onto my sit-spot!
The organisms that I observed were all birds. During my time out, I was listening to 3 distinct bird calls that generally came from the N and NW with varying distances. It was fun listening to the different calls. One was most likely that of a song bird, due to its whistle like tune. On the other hand, there was another call that was far out in the distance, and had a pronounced, stately tone.
Overall, I had a good time. I’m most likely going to continue doing my blogs are this time since I have in the past. It’s also just more exciting, in its own way, than other times like at night.
I am glad that you enjoyed doing your sit-spot, and I agree that the best time to do the observations is during the day. I also noticed the change in color of many of the grasses.
That fungi in one of your picture’s looks sickkkkkkk! I am glad you had a better experience during the day time then at night!
Going at night was a very challenging thing! Im glad you had a better time during the day!
