I am so glad that it is becoming so cold! Fall is by far my favorite month; I hope we get the chance to see the campus covered in snow during the winter months, though. I bet it is really pretty regardless of the cold. I planned on visiting my sit-spot during dusk, as that is the time I haven’t really had the chance to visit yet; however, that plan failed, and I found myself there at about three or so. The first thing that I noticed was how clear the water was! Even checking behind me, downstream, where all of the algae was; it seemed to have cleared up a lot from how it was. I could definitely see more into the stream. I believe that also had to do with how some of the trees/plant life happened to be dying off due to the season. It was very, very calm and one of my most favorite visits :). My second visit to my sit-spot was around this time, but a bit later; I believe it didn’t get dark as early as it does now, though, and of course the weather wasn’t nearly as cold. I chose this time because I didn’t really want to freeze to death by going super late or early in the day! It was also very convenient, but now I’ve cursed myself to go at a different time which will probably be either dusk or dawn and so so cold! During this visit, the sky was clear and the worst part of the weather was the wind that seemed to constantly be blowing. I was just glad it wasn’t freezing rain as well.
I did not hear much besides the road; which sucks, of course, but that is apart of it. The stream itself was pretty quiet and seemed to be void of much wildlife compared to earlier visits. Even peering into the clear water I did not see as much movement or insects as I usually do. I am going to say that I did not see three animals, barely one at all! And that was just some type of darting fish making its way downstream.
My infected tree seems to be doing the same, if not worse? I did not notice much change due to the fact that all of the trees are losing their leaves and such because of the season, so it did not look so out of place for once.
As for the purple plant, it seems to be alright, but the blooms are gone.
I am just glad that it has not died off as many others have claimed their focus plants have!
I forgot to snap a picture of the little tree I am watching for my third focus, but it is still growing strong. Overall, my sit-spot has changed a fair bit, the most being the water in terms of being able to see without it being clouded or covered in algae.
